Reflection on progress

What learning was useful/significant for me

It is always useful to spend time actually trying out stuff we are learning about so it was useful for me to spend some time playing with the long term plan template, merging cells, changing headings and titles etc. Still lots to do on it but have made a start and Steve knows what he is doing with it so help is readily available.

It was also good to have a look at photos and how they are stored in the two different places- so all of them should be in one of those places.

A little extra playing also got photos I wanted into blog posts - it appears I should needed to go further into the web pages to get to the actual picture.

It was interesting to go further into sites to increase what I had started with the songs for assembly. Hadn't really considered it being a web page so quite exciting to think we have made a web page!

What am I finding challenging…

I found the comments bit challenging as I don't do this very often and part way through a comment my cursor moved so I was in the wrong place. I didn't notice so it became difficult to fix.

Time to play is always a challenge.

Tend to feel 'behind' so mindset is a challenge

Play further with the long term template
Figure out how to get my videos to work on blogger
Add more videos to the Hui Songs site

Reflection on progress

1. What learning was useful/significant for me

• Organising photos and sharing photos from ipad and making a shared Room 3 Google Photo site that gives everyone access.
• Commenting on Google Docs which will be really useful when I am helping my students in their writing.
• Lock certain docs that I share with people so they can only comment and not change. Wont work if it is in the team drive so not helpful with the class as we are only using a team drive.
• Suggestion mode and how it is different to commenting which can be really helpful if students are working together or helping each other..
• Planning template from Rod which keeps all planning in one Google sheet. Long term, Terms, Weeks etc with with links to everything else.
• Community of Learning and Member Hangout which I have just been added to and look forward to doing the courses and becoming more confident.
• How to change profile picture.
• Google sites.
• Make collage or animations from Google Photos.

1. What am I finding challenging…

• The idea that nothing is well done. There is always something you could have added or done better, or extended etc.

• Use commenting to help my students when I am helping them with their writing.
• Do the courses in Rob's Community of Learning.
• Teach my students how to access and use photos.
• Keep imputing on the Tasman Bay Christian Resources site to make Assembly easier.
• Use and prepare the planning sheet.
• Have a play and make another Google site.

TBCS-PLD-May 2018-Photos

Students learning how to use and share photos through the google photos app. Loading the app, from the choices and putting it at the top of their options when opening the folder. Once open trying the shared commenting ability. Major discussions coming re care and appropriate comments. This environment is a little new and the correlation between physical and cloud access is not clear.
This brought about thoughts on cyber safety, especially as we have turned on their e-mail accounts.

Here is Miss Reid learning along side the students. Learning is not restricted.
Next Steps: Have more students share how to and then create learning steps for others to refer to when lost, reducing the need for the specialist to be on hand. Entering these into our shared documents.

Reflection on Day 1 PLD April 17 - Judy-Anne

Felt as though my brain was mush by the end of yesterday. It was quite difficult to compartmentalise and things were going on with my family so I was also distracted. We covered a lot and I found that I had forgotten how to do some things that I used to know how to do.

It was good to be able to find my google photos on the laptop later in the day. I couldn't find them in the morning but discovered that putting a search in eg "April" brought them up. The blog looks so much better with photos!

I think we had some good discussions about stream lining some of our work. Teacher Meetings will hopefully be shorter with the new agenda we have and a system for all putting in our comments before we have our meeting.

Next steps:
I need to ensure I am scheduling time to practise skills.

It is wise for us to share our planning, good apps etc. Rob suggested having places named "Great Resources" and "Great Strategies" and has put those labels on the blog.

Tie-dyeing in Room 1, Judy-Anne

We took photos of our tie dyeing to send on seesaw. It was quite challenging to think about lighting, focus and framing. We explored good places to position ourselves and our tie-dyed product.

These were my examples of learner agency in Room 3 

They showed students going beyond what was expected, students helping one another, Students teaching each other aspects about devotions using the whiteboard (at break time), setting a goals and choosing to do it while everyone enjoyed Sumdog.

Where to next...

Put it up on Seesaw to share with parents.

There are other things on the rubric which can be added.

Share it with the rest of the class.

Loop it on T.V as an example.

Add video and get students to articulate what they are doing and learning, and where they are going.

Reflection - Trouble shooting - Judy-Anne

What did I learn today?
It was very hard to focus with other things going on eg the carpet guy arriving to fix the carpet in my room.
It was good to be reminded that there is a lot involved in this so we need to take time and explore different aspects. We won't get it all at once.
I learnt more about taking and dealing with photos
Use blogger for reflections, use Google Keep for some important documents and  lists / tasks, sheets for learner Support register.

So what?
This is something I need to talk about with the class as it is very easy to get distracted from your learning, and sometimes you just need to go with the distraction.
The kids also need time to explore different things on the ipad.

Photos- think about what constitutes a good photo, teach about it, play, delete the rubbish ones.

What next?

• Tutorials from Rob eg forms, sheets
• Play with google keep
• Learn about taking good photos, practise taking good photos, delete bad photos.
• Organise the ipads so that the children's ones are backing up and syncing to room1@tasbaychristian.school.nz rather than my email. 
• Make it a habit  for the kids to always sort photos and delete the bad ones. 
• Make labels / flow charts for taking photos  (framing, lighting, focus, delete)

1. What might be standing out?
2. What are my priorities to learn next?

Standing out: so much to learn and do but I feel more comfortable because I have learnt a little more over the years so don't feel so far out of my depth and comfort zone.

Priorities: develop a system for adding to the blog regularly, commit to a system so I will use some of the different software in G Suite to increase my familiarity with it, develop a playlist in you tube, develop some templates in Forms, Develop a system for storing photos- with labels
