TBCS - Having a go - Judy-Anne

I have been wanting to develop a list of songs for assembly with appropriate links for a wee while and finally had a go at organising it tonight.

I tried setting up a google doc and the first song went in easily but I couldn't do the next one without putting it in a word document and then uploading the file. That seemed like a very inefficient way so I searched the different google tools and google sites seemed appropriate.

I now have two songs on a google site, saved in the Room 4 shared drive (because they are in charge of assembly.)

I think there are still improvements to be made because I am not sure that we should have to open the songs in another wind but I am still quite proud of myself for giving it a go and getting something worked out for myself.

So next problem is how to get the videos to insert into a blog properly!

ICT Skills - Blogging tips

Here are some pointers for blogging that will help you:

1. Always make one idea = 1 post. Then use labels effectively, this will ensure your blog is searchable and filterable in different ways.
2. You can create a link using a label category - click a label you want to link to, then notice the URL says /search/label/name of label in it
3. You can take this a step further by combining labels into a search, below...

<blog-URL>/search/?q=label:LABEL1+label:LABEL2

What's on top for me...
I thought you all did really well yesterday - it was a day of lots of new skills, quite 'heady thinking' around learner agency and looking at school systems. The biggest areas of progress from my perspective related to:

1. Learner Agency - you are doing some great work on deepening this.
2. Digital Skills - Google Forms, Sheets, Team Drives, Document formatting, Blogger (labelling, 
3. Introduction to the SAMR model - to help you decide the quality/depth of the learning outcomes students are producing.

I have a couple of questions in my head today:

1. How might you use the rubric for Learner Agency with your classes so they can delve into what it is, how to grow it, etc.?
2. How do you know the outcomes your students are producing are quality? 
3. How might you unpack what inquiry into practice is so that it is useful, relevant, manageable for your school?

What did I learn today?
Blogger is best used for our appraisal process, as we can use the labels to guide the teachers criteria.
This is a shared reflective space that can be used across the whole staff.
Calendar- tasks will be more effective than my current use of the notes.
Google suite access for the students by class.
Once we understand how to reflect (which we tend to do almost subconsciously with our students) we can make it a more formal approach to teach it.

So What?
I have a way forward to start the development of our appraisal system. The tag options will mean that it covers more than just reflection.
Still so much to do, one day at a time.
I am stuck on keeping my head above the water, wanting it done yesterday so it is more effective.

Standing out: so much to learn and do but I feel more comfortable because I have learnt a little more over the years so don't feel so far out of my depth and comfort zone.

Priorities: develop a system for adding to the blog regularly, commit to a system so I will use some of the different software in G Suite to increase my familiarity with it, develop a playlist in you tube, develop some templates in Forms, Develop a system for storing photos- with labels
